Is it really possible to live by Faith?

Called To Live By Faith

“To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for; to be certain of the things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11: 1.

Hebrews chapter 11 is called the “Bible Hall of Faith.” These great heroes are called a cloud of witnesses. They are witnesses of God’s faithfulness to make good His promises. Can you vouch for God? Has He demonstrated His faithfulness in your life? [Stop now and begin to count your blessings, naming them one by one]. Your testimonies, include you in this hall of faith. They include you in the cloud of witnesses.

Even when he lived as a foreigner in Canaan, Isaac’s neighbors and hosts confessed that God was with him. In a time of drought, Isaac’s field yielded 100 folds. The unchanging God has promised even you, that “In times of austerity, you shall prosper”. Are you looking unto Him to bring His word, this word to pass in your life?

We can be sure and certain of things we hope for; things we cannot see, because of the object of our faith. He is the formidable creator and sustainer of the universe; the Sovereign Lord who has the final say in everything and every situation. He has not only pledged, He put the Holy Spirit in every believer as a guarantee that He would deliver on His word.

The entire life of a Christian is summed up in these words, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” You begin the Christian life by looking unto Jesus. You finish the Christian life by looking unto Jesus. “Looking unto Jesus” describes faith itself. You are born again, saved from guilt of sin by looking unto Jesus. You live the Christian life by “looking unto Jesus.”  “You overcome the world by “looking unto Jesus.” You get prayers answered by “looking unto Jesus.” You triumph over death by “looking unto Jesus.”

We have on hind sight the saints triumphant listed in Hebrews 11, as God’s witnesses. They trusted God even though they did not live to see the final fulfilment of God’s promises. They knew their God. They trusted Him through thick and thin. Some went through fire, some were fed to hungry lions; some waited many years to hold the promise in their hands. Today, we are called to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for Him, He thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on a cross, and He is now seated at the right hand side of God’s throne.

Rid yourself of everything that gets in the way; sin and distractions that add no eternal value to your life. You were made for eternity not for time. You are an ambassador here; you are a citizen of heaven, left here to showcase your kingdom values and to deplete the kingdom of Satan and enlarge the kingdom of God.

It is a marathon, so fix your eyes on Jesus; run with endurance, because in the world you will have tribulations. Jesus’ eyes were fixed on the eternal value of all His suffering. He saw the labor of His soul, and He was satisfied because His deed justified many. The joy that was set before Him was the justification of many, of which you and I are partakers. [Isaiah 53: 11]. Be not conformed to this world; run with determination and endurance; be like Jesus; a servant is not greater than the master; if they called Him beelzebul, they will call you worse names.

Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full in His wonderful face and the things of the world will go strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace…
